Porphyry quarries in the Vipava Valley are viewed as damaging to the landscape and wine industry. A project is needed to re-purpose these spaces through re-naturalization and enhancement of cultural and historical elements. By involving local communities and activating a competition of ideas, the quarries can be redeveloped and become places where local products are appreciated alongside historical and cultural values. This effort highlights the responsibility and creativity of the inhabitants towards a comprehensive transition of living in the valley.
