Case Studies

Eight ECOVINEGOALS viticulture study areas in Italy (2), Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Greece (2), were selected to provide maximal heterogeneity in terms of cultivars and agricultural methods. All are in areas of recognized natural beauty – some are NATURA 2000 sites and one is a UNESCO World Heritage Protected Site. The diverse nature in the areas is a source of the biodiversity essential for agroecological interventions. Attracting tourism to these areas, if undertaken in environmentally-sensitive manner will be able to contribute to the sustainable development of these rural areas.
